To register for our 6th annual Summer in Words Writing Conference. Although I’ve had wonderful rosters of teachers and speakers in years past including Chelsea Cain, Cheryl Strayed, Jennie Shortridge, Larry Brooks and Cathy Lamb, this year is extra invigorating. That’s because I shook things up by adding more workshops and so many of the speakers have new books just launched into the world: Jonathan Evison’s award-winning The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving, Kari Luna (actually her baby, The Theory of Everything, is due in a few weeks), Lauren Kessler’s Counterclockwise: My Year of Hypnosis, Hormones, Dark Chocolate, and Other Adventures in the World of Anti-aging, Monica Drake’s The Stud Book. As they should be, all these writers are pumped with energy and pride at seeing their words in print. And for you upcoming authors, you might want to pay attention to Kari Luna’s marketing campaign because it’s innovative, fun and something to emulate or strive toward.
And Melissa Hart has just signed a contract for her second memoir about the process of adopting her daughter and learning about baby owls. And my book, No Ordinary Days, The Seasons, Cycles and Craft of Writing, will be out in October.
